Quarter an hour after two I arrived in our house today. I step in to the door, remove my stinky shoes, throw my bag to where it's supposed to be in, go up and change my clothes, go down and turn the TV on...That's what I always do whenever I go home from school but today, something important happened, that's why I'm here now, trying to create a blog post out of it.
While I'm eating my lunch, I am quite busy too in browsing the channels of our TV, because I was really a TV addict ever.....since the world began. Lucky for me to spot channel 4, NBN the station owned by our president Gloria, and they are covering the first match in the prestigious Shakey's V-league competition. It's a inter-collegiate volleyball tournament sponsored by Shakey's every year, and now the league is on it's 5th year continuing to promote volleyball in the country. It was two years ago when I started watching volleyball games on TV and I believed it began after I watch the UAAP's season 69 volleyball tournament in Studio 23, where UST was crowned as the champion sweeping the Lady tamaraws from FEU. Ok, go back to the V-league, the match-up I watched this afternoon was between the UST, the team which I'm rooting for since they won last UAAP season 69 and the lady Blazers from College of St. Benilde. I was really happy that UST finally made it in the second conference of the 5th season of the league. They weren't able to join last first conference due to some technicalities along side with de la Salle..but now these both three-time champion teams are making their comebacks in the league and trying to bag their 4th title in the league, which I hope UST would get(bias?).
Of course, being the champion last season, UST has managed to acquire their first win from CSB in four sets but I feel kinda disappointed with the team's line-up. Yes, the power hitters Bernal and Balse were there together with the crowd-favorite setter Tan, Maizo is back but another crowd-favorite and open hitter is missing.....Angeli Tabaquerro is nowhere to be found in the court. For my point of view, her absence could make their line-up a bit weaker since she's also a power hitter and the third scorer in their team next to Bernal and Balse, and a very defensive player whenever she's in the back line. Filling her spot are the three rookies which have the potential to score points but not as strong as Tabaquerro. I really don't have any idea why she was not able to play this time but I am still hoping she'll come back next year and in this coming UAAP in December and that UST will bring home the crown.
Let's wait two more months to find out what would happen......
