Last Wednesday, May 21 around 6pm I watched the American Idol Season 7 finale. It was a live telecast by QTV11. On that night, David go against David for the title. The two Davids will have to outlast each other for the last time to know who will be the winner. Who will be hailed as the next idol? Is it going to be Cook or is it going to be Archuleta? Little David vs Big David. One thing's for sure, the winner's name would be David.
Paula is right when she advised the two "May the best man win." Both of them were really good and talented in their own ways. Both of them deserved the title. But there can only be one.
For that night, the contest will be divided into three rounds. The two Davids need to sing three songs. In Round 1, the song is chosen by Clive Davis. Cook will be the first to sing. Davis chose "I still Haven't Found what I'm Lookin' For" for Cook and "Don't Let the Sun Get Down on Me" for Archuleta. Both Paula and Randy like the performance of the two. Simon described Cook's performance as phenomenal and Archuleta's performance as the best he has done so far. Later he added that Round 1 goes to Archuleta.
In round 2, they need to sing their personal song choice. I don't know the title of Cook's song but he sang it pretty good. The song's tempo is really fast and most of the notes were really high. He did a great job hitting those high notes. Archuleta also did a good job singing his second song(I don't know the title eh). They both perform great in this round. Paula and Randy loved Archuleta's performance as well as Cook's. Ofcourse Simon, don't like the song choice of Cook and said he needed to do better with his third song. Surprisingly, he liked Archuleta's performance and he give to him the second Round.
For Round 3, I don't know the category eh...Cook sang "The World I Know" and Archuleta sang "Imagine". For me Cook's performance is just ok and David's is better than his. Simon said that it would be better if he sang his own version of "Billie Jean". The judges agree to me and Simon said that what we have witnessed is a knock out by Archuleta. There ends the Last Performance Night.
To know who among the Davids has won, I need to wake up 8 in the morning to watch the Results in live telecast on the same channel. And yes, I did. I watched the show. After all their guests have performed, Cook was announced as the next American Idol. It was very surprising that he won after Simon have told that the performance night is won by Archuleta. Well, judges really don't have the power to decide, the decision is still in the hands of the viewers. Cook wins by 12 million votes. He then sings the winning song Time of my Life. The show ends there.
Actually in the earlier part of the show, Simon already gave a hint on who will be the winner. Before the show starts, he apologized to Cook for treating him very harsh the previous evening. He "realized" that Cook is really good after he watched again the performance of the two in his home. Why would he need to apologize to Cook? Because Cook will be soon declared as the new American Idol. It's not good to give negative comments on the winner's performance, right? :-D
