0-LYMPICS

It has been years since I last visited my blog. I had my reasons, okay?. First, I can't find a topic to begin a post with, second I don't have the luxury of time to do it for there are things that I find myself to be busy with. Lastly and more importantly, I don't have enough money to rent a computer to access my blog. Okay, after hearing all the testimonies of the accused, the court has decided that you are 'not guilty' of committing the crime of blog desertion.. Hush.. hush too much garbage talk...Alright, apology accepted. Stop self-talking now and start writing today's entry.

The Olympics held in Beijing, China this year has reached its end last Sunday, August 24 as I watched its closing ceremony on the evening of the same day in Channel 9. RPN 9 made it possible for us here in the Philippines to witness the entire event.

There are only some sports events there where I put my interest in. Watching almost all of the games the US Basketball Team has played seemed to be my only priority. The American team is comprised of Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Paul and the others whom I don't know and whom I don't have a curiosity to know. Their team however, didn't meet my expectations as well as my brothers' for Kobe and Lebron played kinda off.... but nevertheless they still manage to defeat Yao Ming's China, Nowitzki's Germany and Pau Gasol's Spain and attain an unbeatable record of 7-0.

When I just find myself preparing to get ready to witness the Basketball Semifinals where US will face Argentina and Spain will go against Lithuania, unexpectedly, one man made the world halt revolving. He created a history so to speak. Michael Phelps' name become known to everyone as all the news worldwide featured his great victory in swimming. He won not only one, not only two, but eight gold medals in swimming, the most number of medals an athlete has ever attained in a prestigious sports event as the Olympics. His triumph made a new world record. He is now the Olympian who managed to get the most number of gold medals in Olympics and he holds seven world records in swimming. What the fuck!!!...sorry for the language..What kind of training does he had?...I don't wanna know, I'm pretty sure it has been too tough for him to undergo whatever kind of training he had. But all of the hardships he has experienced training..all of the things his 'perfectionist' coach has taught him...all of that were paid off. That created a second thought. I think his training is not that too diffucult as I described it to be, because if what I said before is true, then how come he ended up alive and kicking after being into a torture-like practice? right?....I guess I had a wrong impression on his coach...I hope so..

Okay, going back to the Basketball Semifinals event, Pau Gasol's Spain won over Lithuania and the US Team outlasted Argentina. Marching to the Finals are the US and Spain Team. Like their other games, I see to it that I'll watch the Finals, and thank God I did. I can still recall that LeBron drew the first blood as he scored 3 points. Gasol, living to its role as the Spain's captain tied the score as he drove into the basket and scored 2 points gaining another basket throw for someone in the US committed a foul. The first quarter of the match was really a close fight, America having the slightest point advantage. Unfortunately, Kobe and Lebron were forced to moved out of the court for committing 2 fouls each at early time, leaving the game in the hands of Dwayne Wade and Chris Paul. The
two however seemed to do their tasks while the two ace players were not in. Since they entered the court, they start to make points for their team, leading the US to have a greater point advantage than before. I believed it was in the third quarter when Kobe and Lebron go back. Correct me if not. I'm more willing to be corrected. From then on, Kobe, James and the others earn points that pulled their score away from the Spains' and give the US their victory. Many has anticipated that this game would end that way. What else would you expect, it was just only the NBA superstars who are playing there. But if the match ended up otherwise, it would be such a disgrace and a shame to Kobe and Lebron...but I think that's way too far from happening..there was just a very little probability that they won't win. By the way, the game concludes with the awarding of medals.

The 2008 Olympics' closing ceremony terminates the longing of the Filipinos to get even a single medal in the said event. Throughout the competition, Philippines did not manage to take home a piece of medal. It happened not because our athletes are not good enough or they did not give their best, but because of lack of support from our government through financial aids, lack of training and equipments. Maybe we could have bring home some medals if our athletes have undergone adequate amount of training and if they were given enough support and value by the government. But if these things will not occur in the near future-four years from now to be precise, there will be no chance for the Philippines to get any medal in any sports events. We will remain on the bottom of the medal count tally having a 0 0 0 0 standing. :(
